My5

This is by far my most preferred Power Plate for home or office use. It has all the features you will need to get yourself into top shape. The operating face is very clear and the setting symbols are easy to understand. The platform is of significant size and allows for movement in all directions and the non-slip surface will give you the confidence to change feet positioning during a time sequence.

The Power Plate My 5 offers 3 different vibration frequencies from 30 Hz, over 35Hz to 40 Hz, with high and low intensity options and two timer settings (30 sec and 60 sec). The best feature is the Incremental adjustment you can make to the vibration frequency.

You can go up in 1Hz increments from 30 Hz to 40 Hz which is fantastic considering the pre set increments are noticeably big steps. It also allows intensifying your training very gradually Overall I always experience the initial vibration start up on all Power Plates as very sudden and it usually takes me a second to get used to it. I put that down to the fact that any Power Plate has two motors that kick in simultaneously.

Additionally this is the only Power Plate that also offers 4 preset programs for you to choose from including Strength, Stretch, Massage and Relaxation.

The maximum weight load for this machine is 135 kg which again might be a little bit on the low side if you carry a fair amount of weight.

It comes with a remote control to start the machine when you are either seated on the platform or placing one or both feet on the floor. I think I do prefer a quick start button to a remote control, but that’s me. I tend to misplace or loose my remote quite easily.

Additionally the Power Plate My5 comes with a free DVD/ Manual, two upper body straps and one contoured mat. Colour options are black, white and silver.

Conclusion:
If money was not an option this machine would be one of my preferred options. The general size of the platform, the various setting options, the general quality feel make it a very attractive vibration trainer.

This machine is the smallest out of the whole Power Plate range. If simplicity is one of your main criteria then this machine is the one for you. It simply has a Stop/ Start button, a time button with only 30sec/ 60 sec options, one button for High/ Low intensity and a repeat button. Simple. The vibration frequency is pre set at 35 Hz, which means that the plate you are standing on vibrates 35 times per second.

The platform you stand on is oblong and does not allow for too much range of movement whilst on the plate. Personally I would prefer a machine that allows for different vibration frequencies but having said that this machine will definitely give you good results.

It comes with 2 upper body straps that you can attach to the machine to perform upper body strength exercises. Additionally the manufacturer supplies 3 contoured mats that are made of varying thickness, they are designed to either reduce or increase the intensity of the vibration. Great idea, especially since some users might find 35Hz vibration frequency a little bit too intense to start off with.

Half way down the column of the machine is another quick start button which is very useful when you are performing seated exercises or exercises with one foot on the floor and you cant reach the main `switchboard` The maximum weight capacity is only 120 kg, so not ideal for the slightly bigger framed individuals. And the frame colour only comes in Silver.

Even though the machine does not have too many variable it will be very easy to design an interesting and successful exercise programme by adding other pieces of exercise equipment i.e. dumbbells.

Conclusion:
Personally I would prefer a machine that allows for different vibration frequencies but having said that this machine will definitely give you good results. I think this product lends itself more to the general exerciser looking to tone up and possibly loose some weight but not is not of ideal size for intense training. The price matches expectations.
